IMMUNISATION
______________________________________________________________________________
A valid International Health Certificate is required in order to enter Kenya.  Yellow Fever is the most vital and if you attempt to enter Kenya without it, you may find yourself being inoculated at your port of entry or border post - and perhaps with a suspect needle!

The immunity given by vaccines takes time, sometimes several weeks are required to get full protection.  It is best to plan your immunisation schedule 6 - 8 weeks before arrival in Kenya.

Yellow Fever      ......................................................................................  Valid for 10 years
Cholera     ...............................................................................................  Valid for 6 months
Typhoid    ................................................................................................  Valid for 3 years
Tetanus    ................................................................................................  Valid for 10 years
               Tuberculosis      ......................................................................................  Valid for life
Polio    ........................................................................................................  Valid for 10 years
Hepatitis A Gamma Globulin     .......................................................  Valid for 6 months
               Hepatitis B   - 2 x injections  .............................................................  Valid for 1 years
Booster  ......................................................................  Valid for 10 years

FOR THE NEEDLE NERVOUS
To ease the pain of an injection:
  • Press your thumb where the injection will be given until you feel resistance and hold it for 10 seconds.
